[The night she got slapped on the face by a police]
and the 43 hours of sharing a cold concrete floor.
Remember our friend who got arrested and detained? She recounted her 43 hours in detention cell to us last night.
Among the 6 other girls who shared a detention cell with her, one was a recent University graduate who was REALLY on her way to McDonald's with a guy who also got arrested.
Since they were not even protesting, they didn't thought of calling lawyer, Police asked them again "Why come all the way to North Point for MCD when you live in Kornhill?" She answered "I am just really on my way to Mcdonald's, Ah (SIR)" She got slapped on her face before finishing the sentence.
Another six were on their way home after dinner, one of them put his hands up right away when seeing the riot police, but got pressed down and beaten by police!
He was injured and bleeding, so was sent to hospital immediately, nobody saw him again during that 48 hours.
Among these 6 was a European guy who went up to stop them beating their friend, but was not arrested because he was foreigner. The foreigner's girlfriend went up to protect the guy who was beaten by a group of riot police, but was being pressed from the back violently and arrested.
Back at the police station, our friend was mysteriously brought to the carpark for statement taking, the police kept persuading them not to call police "SEE you're wasting time, you won't say anything anyway, you are wasting money, and WE CANNNO GET OFF WORK just because we need to stay here and wait for lawyers with you"
Even though most of them were arrested on the pavement, not even in the middle of the road, but all had home-search, their family of course all gone crazy, and perhaps this is the purpose of it all - to create fear.
Among all this craziness, there were some cute little moments too.
We asked if they kept in touch after being released, they said yes, guess how they found each other?
Turned out they each memorised ONE person's phone number.
This is still happening everyday, people got beaten indiscriminately, police covering their numbers, arresting people who are on their way home....
This is not something that would be solved by "let's all go home, and pretend nothing went wrong" It is precisely because all this is happening, that we should be voicing out our demands towards our government.
P.S. SO MUCH respect for our lawyer friends who are helping out these people for free
